  • nice pens
  • These pens run under my rabbit hutch type pens that are 2 feet off the ground, Each pen is 24" wide 40" tall by 20" and extends 36" under the hutch for a total of 56" it gives plenty of room for the roost that is 24" off the ground, One thing I like about them is there are no hinges, I can pull a pin out of the top and I can remove the complete front of each pen, The top will be covered with flat sheet metal and I will put my show cages on top. In the spring I breed my pigeons in the rabbit hutches and by July I move the pigeons out and use the hutches as conditioning pens for my cockerels, I made these pens to condition my cocks
  • I like them, Ron

    nice car-btms
  • Raven, how many birds did you hatch?
  • Having the rest of my teeth yanked out Thursday gave me some spare time around the house since they didn't want me to go to work. Had some material hanging around the yard and built this 4 compartment wire cage and hung it on a section of fencing off the ground. Mounted holders for water containers on the outside and used butter dishes for water. The best part is it cost me absolutely nothing but my time. Had all the material hanging around. Check it out.

  • Looks like you did a bang up job wayne, I would have used something other than a butter dish, that's where I hide my left-overs since the kids don't look in the butter dish.
How are you holding up? We haven't talked in a week or better.
  • I am kinda sore and living on soft food for now. That is ok at home but not very sustaining on a 12 hr. work shift. This cage was built on Joey's side of the yard and hoping when he get out of jail I can help him straighten out and get back focused on the birds. I hope to have some BrownReds in those pens for him by the time he gets out. I think he would like that or some Dark Cornish. Might get him both. Two pens of each is not much work.
  • Well, couldn't resist. Had to start building another one. These make pretty good conditioning pens.
